I just went through some weird stuff with my performing rights organization that I thought I’d share just in case you’re a musician in a similar boat wanting to give your music away for non-commercial uses but expecting commercial users to pay the fees one would expect them to pay any other songwriter.

Letting my S.A.C. membership lapse

In what would appear to be a concerted attempt by me to sever all ties with the established Canadian music industry, I’ve decided to not renew my membership in the Songwriters Association of Canada. It’s nothing personal, it just wasn’t working out for me. I tried it for a year & I just wasn’t getting my money’s worth out of it.

The fine art of recovering forgotten music

Here’s some more discoveries from my back-up discs. I uncovered these tunes from a disc I had prepared for my last 11t1 show back in March of 2006. Of all the none-LP tracks I had prepared for the show, these were the only two not riddled with copyrighted material.
