Here’s a treat. The Masters of Song Fu challenge is back in full swing, and I’m in it with 30+ other challengers.
The focus of this round is to write a song about a Mole Man from John Hodgman’s list of 700 in his book More Information Than You Require. I picked a she-mole poet named Claudia Inward Burrowdown.
Here are the lyrics:
Miss Claudia Inward Burrowdown
A poetess of some renown
Lived in a burrow underground
She dug out herself
It’s nothing like a hobbit-hole
More like the residence of a mole
Dug under a grassy knoll
Complete with built-in bookshelvesWell it’s the place to be
For her mutant family
Making literary history
While she composes verse
Both concise and terse
That you’ll never get to read or even see
Unless, of course, you are a mole manHer introspective poet faction
Always looking for some action
She met a man named Jackson
Strolling through the woods
His fingernails were really jaws, and pointed teeth grew from his jaws
She accepted all his flaws
Because he had the goodsHe’s the patriarch, you see
Of this mutant family
Making literary history
While she composes verse
Both concise and terse
That you’ll never get to read or even see
Unless, of course, you are a mole man
Unless, of course
The third verse is the same as the first, just transposed up a whole step (from G to A).
This was recorded on the 8-track limited Ableton Live Lite.
