So I stumbled across an ad on Craigslist the other day:
Television Production in development, in conjunction with a National Broadcaster, is looking for Songwriters to perform an original song they are looking to license – great opportunity for exposure and potential for the song to get recorded!
This morning I set aside a little time to record & submit a YouTube video fitting all the necessary requirements (see above).
True story: I spent the other day rehearsing another song (“Coney Island Sideshow Freak Girl”) for this video, and I also wrote another song called “Vampire Girl” in the process (because I just loves me some True Blood). Then when I sat down to record CISFG I had an overwhelming urge to work on a new song. I took it as a sign and immediately recorded “Borrowed Time” before being able to even think about rewrites.
True story: When I got up this morning, I thought I had a mere 24 hours to submit my audition. As soon as I submitted it I noticed that the deadline had been extended a week. Oh well, at least it’s done.
True story: I’m pretty happy with my vocal performance, for a change, and think maybe I should wear pajamas in the studio whenever I’m cutting vocals in the future.
Side note: I found out about Les Paul’s passing just after I finished this all up. Bummer. He’s the genius that made multi-track recording possible, and he was no slouch on the guitar, either (hence Gibson naming a model after him). Thanks for everything, Les!
