What deep, dark hole was Ben Stein Expelled from?
I’m really disappointed, perhaps because I used to really admire Ben Stein for his intelligence. I used to dream that one day I could have my ass handed to me on Win Ben Stein’s Money, even after Jimmie Kimmel left the show. But then I found out about his new movie, Expelled, which looks at the alleged persecution against scientists who believe in Intelligent Design.
I can’t believe that someone I used to think was so bright is so dim when it comes to the scientific method. Word up, Stein - if the scientific method made room for conjecture that had absolutely no physical evidence, it wouldn’t be very scientific, would it?
But don’t take my word for it, there are people much smarter than me who’ve risen to the task of debunking Stein’s “why can’t scientists talk about religion” argument. Here’s a clever video that responds to some of Stein’s most flawed arguments with a charming British accent and a whole lot solid reason:
So suck on that, Stein. There’s no room for free speech in science, or there’d be nothing to stop me saying that cancer is caused by demons or that being nice to fairies will give you eternal youth. Until you figure out how to accurately quantitatively measure the divine, there’s no way to factor it into an equation.
For more information, you could visit a site dedicated to debunking Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed. For more misinformation, I guess you could just go see the movie. Your call, I’m all for free speech and religious freedom and all of that. I’m just opposed to one-sided, dim-witted arguments.
